Mother Wolf Miami | Where Roman Tradition Meets Miami Glamour

Mother Wolf Miami | Where Roman Tradition Meets Miami Glamour

February 13, 2025

Evan Funke, the celebrated chef renowned for his dedication to authentic Roman cuisine, has unveiled his latest venture, Mother Wolf Miami, in the heart of the Miami Design District. This opening marks the third establishment under the Mother Wolf banner, following successful launches in Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

In collaboration with Ten Five Hospitality, known for projects like Baia Beach Club, Funke brings his passion for traditional Roman cooking to Miami. He emphasizes that Mother Wolf is distinctively Roman, not just another Italian restaurant. “Roman food is very strict, almost dogmatic. There’s one way to make cacio e pepe, there’s one way to make amatriciana,” Funke explains.

A Culinary Journey Through Rome with a Miami Twist

The menu at Mother Wolf Miami showcases Funke’s commitment to Roman culinary traditions, featuring classics such as cacio e pepe, rigatoni alla carbonara, and supplì al telefono. Additionally, the Miami location introduces dishes inspired by local flavors, like spaghetti Ricci di Mare, incorporating sea urchin, and a seafood-centric Fritto Misto di Mare. “We’re moving toward coastal Roman,” Funke notes, highlighting the use of locally sourced ingredients to craft dishes that resonate with both Roman and Miami sensibilities.

Wood-fired Roman-style pizzas, a signature of Mother Wolf, remain a focal point of the menu. The dough, made using traditional Italian techniques, results in a perfectly crisp yet chewy crust, topped with ingredients like guanciale, fior di latte, and San Marzano tomatoes.

An Interior Inspired by Roman Grandeur and Miami Chic

Designed by London’s Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, Mother Wolf Miami seamlessly blends Roman influences with Miami’s Art Deco aesthetic. The space is a symphony of warm, rich tones and luxurious materials, creating a dining environment that feels both opulent and inviting.

Murano glass chandeliers cast a golden glow over terrazzo floors, while Horus gold marble tables reflect the refined elegance of Roman trattorias. The plush banquettes, upholstered in deep jewel tones, provide an intimate setting for diners to indulge in Funke’s carefully curated dishes. The walls are adorned with hand-painted frescoes inspired by ancient Rome, adding a historical touch to the modern space.

A standout feature of the restaurant is the open kitchen, where guests can observe the meticulous pasta-making process—a hallmark of Funke’s dedication to craftsmanship. The sight of chefs rolling out fresh pasta on marble counters adds an immersive element to the dining experience, emphasizing the artistry behind each dish.

The cocktail program at Mother Wolf Miami mirrors the culinary philosophy—rooted in tradition yet adapted for the vibrant Miami crowd. Guests can sip on expertly crafted Negronis, Aperol Spritzes, and house-specialty cocktails that incorporate locally sourced citrus and herbs, further blending the best of Rome and Miami.

With this new venture, Evan Funke invites Miami’s diners to experience the rich tapestry of Roman cuisine, offering a dining experience that is both authentic and uniquely tailored to its Miami setting. The combination of meticulous culinary execution and an exquisitely designed space solidifies Mother Wolf Miami as a must-visit for those seeking a taste of Rome with a touch of Miami glamour.
