A shot of Croizet Cognac’s ‘Cuvée ‘Leonie’ 1858 was sold to a Chinese  buyer, he is a businessman named  Jason Wong and spent a record-breaking HK$68,000. He drank The Most Expensive Shot in the world and that moment as been marked in Guinness World Records

“I have waited for this for a long time,” said Jason Wong, (the Chairman of Eyarn Lighting Ltd in Foshan City, Guangdong), before taking the shot.

The reason that the cognac is so expensive is that the vines that grew the grapes to make it were all destroyed by a virus in the 1870s. There are now just a few bottles remaining.

It happened on November 9, 2016, that the “Cuvée Leonie” was sold by the shot for the 1st time. The shot was a Cognac Croizet Cuvée Leonie 1858, which was sold by the shot for the first time ever at the InterContinental Hong Kong.

InterContinental Hong Kong is the hotel where the moment occurred and  donated the value of  HK$68,000 to AIDS Concern in Hong Kong. Jason Wong bought the 40ml shot for HK$68,000 (US$8,765) and toasted the president-elect, Donald Trump.

“Mr Donald Trump has just been elected to be the next President of the United States. I wish he will bring world peace and more business opportunities to the world.” Said J. Wong.

There’s also a VVIP Presidential Suite Croizet Experience in the InterContinental Hong Kong Hotel.

Myth or not, it is reported that Winston Churchill and President Eisenhower drank the cognac whilst discussing D-Day in 1944.  ‘The Winston’ set the world record for most expensive cocktail sold at US$12,500 in 2013.
