The Earl Collection for Piaval Represents the Best of Italian Design

Presented first at the prestigious 100% Design back in September, the spectacular EARL collection was designed for Piaval by British designer Daniel Rous/Fabrica. The collection has been chosen for the ADI DESIGN INDEX 2017, the selection of the best in Italian design. The judgment priorities were the high quality and the social responsibility and Earl satisfies both.

Thanks to this nomination, Piaval now enters the pre-selection of the Compasso d’Oro Award, the oldest and most influential international design award, established in 1954 by a Gio Ponti’s idea in order to pick out the value and quality of the best designers and of the best Italian design companies.

Earl is light in its shape, subtle in its depth but highly resistant – an important consideration when it comes to large-scale, turnkey furniture solutions. The collection, made entirely of solid curved beech wood, confirms Piaval penchant for sleek aesthetics, but hides careful and complex woodworking skills in its simple design.

This is the result of an accurate research and know-how, rooted in traditional curved-wood chair manufacturing and cutting-edge production technology. The synthesis between light, agile visuals and the solid material make Earl an eclectic collection (chair, armchair and barstool), perfect for public spaces such as libraries, cafés, meeting rooms and more. Earl is marked by the backrest, shaped into a harmonious curve. In addition to guaranteeing excellent resistance, it offers stability and comfort.

Earl is the fruit of the passion which Piaval and Daniel Rous share for wood, for a tactile furniture experience, and for environmental sustainability.
