SoHo is a neighbourhood in Lower Manhattan, New York City, which in recent history came to the public’s attention for being the location of many artists’ lofts and art galleries.
Nowadays it is more noted for its variety of shops ranging from trendy upscale boutiques to national and international chain store outlets. The area’s history is an archetypal example of inner-city regeneration and gentrification, encompassing socio-economic, cultural, political and architectural developments.
Almost all of SoHo is included in the SoHo-Cast Iron Historic District, which was designated by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission in 1973, extended in 2010, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and declared a National Historic Landmark in 1978. It consists of 26 blocks and approximately 500 buildings, many of them incorporating cast-iron architectural elements. Many side streets in the district are paved with Belgian blocks.
Besides, we would like to pay your attention to the following brands and their stores in SoHo – Rolf Benz, Almora, B&B Italia, Flos, Moroso, Michel Club, Design within reach, Husk, Flair, Artemide, Boffi, Cappellini, Cassina, Ingo Maurer, Nanimarquina, Shimna, Moma Design, Poltrona Frau, Ligne Roset, Molteni.

When German furniture brand Rolf Benz was looking for a venue to act as a portal for its American audience, New York City quickly emerged as the obvious choice. Home to ICFF, the continent‘s most important annual furniture fair, the city‘s reputation as a cosmopolitan metropolis matches the firm’s values of individuality and flexible living.
Rolf Benz is one of Europe‘s most renowned manufacturers of premium upholstered furniture and is already celebrating its fiftieth anniversary. The opening of the flagship store at SoHo design showroom Studio Anise during ICFF 2014 marked the latest stage in the firm’s strategic expansion. Situated at the heart of one of the city‘s most vibrant and creative boroughs, Studio Anise was chosen because of owner Paul Anis‘s reputation for introducing top brands to the American market and will offer visitors the chance to experience the comfort and precision manufacturing of Rolf Benz’s furniture firsthand.
