Interview | A Glimpse into Saudi Elegance with Juan Zaza

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – Juan Zaza, the creative force behind the House of Juan and Owaidi Interior Design, has been a stalwart in the Saudi Arabian design scene for four decades. With an illustrious portfolio spanning numerous projects and collaborations with furniture companies worldwide, Zaza’s expertise as an interior designer is unrivaled. In a candid interview, Juan Zaza shared his insights into his design philosophy, the importance of client collaboration, and his recent visit to Covet Group’s showroom.

 

 

 

“My name is Juan Zaza. My company called the House of Juan. It’s based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and I’m there since 40 years in Saudi Arabia. We have done a lot of projects over there. And we’ve been working also with different furniture company around the world,” Zaza introduced himself. He expressed his admiration for Covet Group’s products, citing their uniqueness as a key factor in his decision to collaborate with them. “So I am a designer. Basically, I’m an interior designer. And I like the product of Covet Group, as I’ve seen them in Milan (Salone del Mobile) several years in the past, until I started to work with them. So I think they have nice pieces. It’s unique pieces even. That’s why we are obliged to work with them,” he explained.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Reflecting on the journey that led to his success, Zaza emphasized the importance of experience, hard work, and dedication to excellence. “First of all, as I told you, I’m an interior designer. And experience through the years makes us important comparing with the others. Not that, only because working hard in general, that’s build the reputation,” he remarked.

 

 

 

Discussing his approach to projects, Zaza highlighted the significance of understanding the client’s needs and preferences from the outset. “Usually when we have a new project, mostly, let’s say residential project, we work with the clients. Since the project is on paper, that’s the most, let’s say most successful job,” he shared. He continued, “When he selects something, we understand what is the design, what is the trends he likes. We check with him the budget also. This is essential, the budget. If his budget is high, medium, he don’t want to spend too much. This also will direct us to select something reasonable for him.”

 

 

 

 

Recounting his recent visit to Covet Group’s showroom, Zaza expressed his appreciation for the meticulous craftsmanship and professionalism evident in their manufacturing process. “The first time, actually, as I told you, I was interested in the product of Covet Group and I’m working with them, actually we order some products with them. So my idea was to come to see how they produce these nice pieces, the factories, the touches, the details, so on. And so that makes me comes here,” he explained. When asked about his favorite brands from Covet Group, Zaza singled out Boca do Lobo, Luxxu, and Koket for their exceptional designs.

 

 

Concluding the interview, Zaza teased an upcoming residential project where he plans to incorporate numerous items from Covet House, expressing confidence that the finished result will be nothing short of a masterpiece.
