Highly regarded as one of the best French interior designers of all time, Chahan Minassian is a high reference when it comes to the luxury market of this country. He’s responsible for some of the most magnificent French-styled interiors one will ever see in a lifetime. CovetED will be showing you how unique this French designer’s style and tastes are in regards to the challenges he’s ever tackled during his career.

Having started off by studying Interior Design in Paris and after having gained very relevant experience in his role as European creative director for Ralph Lauren, Chahan Minassian took a further step that would define his career as a whole. He ended up creating his firm in 1993 and it wasn’t long until his name exploded into an internationally renowned name.

Chahan Minassian defines himself as an ”eye”. The keywords he uses here to sustain this notion are by defining himself as “sharp, precise, selective, refined”. These are essential skills for the Armenian and French designer who is used to tackling a series of activities regarding interior design, decoration, curating, galleries, among many other relevant design activities.

The fact that he had a very multicultural portfolio is a high point in the way he approaches a new challenge. He has what he likes to call the “chahanian style”. In essence, it consists of a healthy mix of textures, lighting, furniture collections, pure lines, alongside some pondered historical and timeless design styles.

For Chahan Minassian, space is a primary concern especially when he approaches projects such as redesigning interiors or even revamping a space with the goal of assisting the flow of movement. His style is also been pointed out for the use of sophisticated fabrics along with muted colours.

At the moment the designer is known to be working on several projects, specifically in a series of townhouses in London, a palazzo in Venice, a couple of Chalets in Gstaad and Kitzbuhel, among many other types of projects. His work has also been noted to have evolved throughout the years which resulted in a wide range of different collections that reflect his unique aesthetics.

PROJECTS

As an Interior Designer, Chahan Minassian’s first concern is space. He will often redesign the interior spaces in a project to improve their circulation or to create the desired atmosphere. He combines his talent as an interior designer and a creator of harmony with an appreciation of detail that lends his decors their signature «couture» effect.

Pavyllon Ledoyen

Michelin-starred restaurant by chef Yannick Alléno, the Pavyllon has been uniquely designed around a large custom-made counter facing onto the open kitchen. A mix of comfort and textures at the service of the palate.

Fisher Island

Faith superyacht

This elegant 100m yacht, which can accommodate 18 guests and 32 crew members, was voted the best motor yacht in the world in 2018. Interior design with unique bespoke furnishing, all by Chahan Minassian.
