In the scenic Doca da Marinha, close to the bustling Praça do Comércio in Lisbon, ÀCosta emerges as the latest culinary gem by the Olivier Group. This vibrant restaurant pays tribute to Portuguese culture and gastronomy, blending the nostalgia of comfort food with daring innovation. With the shimmering sea as both its backdrop and muse, ÀCosta invites diners to embark on a journey back to the roots of Portuguese flavors, infused with contemporary flair.
A Tribute to Family and Tradition ÀCosta embodies the essence of family and communal dining, celebrating the joy of sharing meals while recounting stories from generations past. Chefpreneur Olivier da Costa draws inspiration from cherished memories of his grandmother Maria Luísa, grandfather Augusto, aunt Matilde, and uncle Jorge. Each dish reflects the flavors of his childhood, reviving the comforting tastes that defined his family’s culinary heritage.
Olivier expresses his desire to return to traditional Portuguese cooking, highlighting iconic dishes such as açorda and grilled fish. “It’s something I’ve been thinking about for a long time. I wanted to work on a concept that celebrates our Portuguese roots,” he shares. This vision is articulated through a menu that balances tradition with bold, innovative twists, a hallmark of the Olivier Group’s approach to gastronomy.
A Culinary Adventure At ÀCosta, the menu is a vibrant homage to Portugal’s rich culinary landscape, showcasing the freshest fish, seafood, and high-quality meats that have long been staples of Olivier’s restaurants. Signature dishes include: grilled Fish with a lemon and herb butter sauce, inspired by Olivier’s uncle Jorge’s underwater fishing expeditions; Sr. Augusto Scarlet Prawns, a dish reminiscent of the chef’s grandfather’s garlic and paprika shrimp preparation, and Chocolate Mousse, a playful reinterpretation that recalls the delightful treats Olivier’s grandmother would make for him and his cousins.
The menu also features an array of shareable entrées, such as Carpaccio of Gilt-head Bream, Prawn and Caviar Tartare, and Stuffed Crab Shell. For those seeking heartier fare, ÀCosta offers tantalizing main courses like ÀCosta Codfish, Pasta Gamberini with Shrimp, and European Lobster Rice—each crafted to highlight the freshest seasonal ingredients.
Sweet Temptations and Seasonal Sips Desserts at ÀCosta are a sweet indulgence, featuring favorites like Doce da Casa, a Greek yogurt ice cream with Marie biscuits, and Ovar Sponge Cake, alongside a delicate Crème Brûlée. To complement the culinary offerings, ÀCosta boasts a thoughtfully curated wine list, presenting both Portuguese and international selections that cater to diverse palates.
In addition to its food offerings, ÀCosta features an enticing cocktail menu that captures the spirit of Portugal through its unique flavors. “Our cocktails mix Portuguese ingredients with maritime references,” explains Larissa Salgado, Head Bartender. Signature creations like Rota do Sol and Punch Marítimo are crafted with fresh seasonal ingredients, ensuring a refreshing experience for every guest.
A Stunning Ambiance The newly refurbished space at ÀCosta provides a contemporary yet inviting atmosphere, perfect for enjoying a leisurely meal as the sun sets over the water. With 130 seats—90 indoors and 40 on the terrace—guests can bask in the restaurant’s stylish ambiance while savoring dishes that celebrate Portugal’s culinary heritage. ÀCosta not only embraces the flavors of the sea but also evolves with the seasons, adjusting its menu to prioritize fresh, local ingredients throughout the year. Whether it’s lighter fare in the summer or comforting dishes in the winter, ÀCosta promises to deliver a dining experience that is as dynamic as it is comforting.
Olivier da Costa is renowned for his culinary prowess, with a global footprint that spans seven countries. With ÀCosta, he further solidifies his commitment to innovative gastronomy while honoring traditional Portuguese flavors. The Olivier Group’s dedication to unique and original dining experiences shines brightly at ÀCosta, which stands poised to become a beloved addition to Lisbon’s vibrant culinary scene. As Lisbon continues to flourish as a gastronomic destination, ÀCosta invites diners to eat, drink, and live—embracing the joy of food that is both daring and deeply rooted in tradition.
