Formerly the private residence of João Federico Ludovice, architect to King João V in the 18th century, Palácio Ludovice stands as a living testament to Lisbon’s rich history. Surviving the catastrophic 1755 Lisbon Great Earthquake, the palace has served various purposes over its 300-year existence. From housing the European aristocracy, the Russian consulate, and private apartments, to being the home of Solar do Vinho do Porto since 1945, this remarkable building has always been at the heart of Lisbon’s cultural and social life. In 2016, a profound reconstruction under the guidance of architect Miguel Câncio Martins transformed the palace into a luxury boutique hotel, combining its historical significance with modern elegance.
The FEDERICO Restaurant is one of the standout features of the Palácio Ludovice, offering an exceptional dining experience. The courtyard, a gathering place for food lovers, wine connoisseurs, and creative minds, sets the stage for a sophisticated atmosphere. Housed in what was once an old cellar, the restaurant combines vibrant energy with exceptional service, offering an unforgettable culinary journey. The restaurant is open for breakfast from 07h30 to 10h30, lunch from 12h30 to 15h00, and dinner from 19h00 to 22h30, ensuring that guests are always immersed in exquisite flavors and a welcoming ambiance.
For those looking to unwind and indulge in relaxation, the CAUDALIE Boutique-Spa offers an exclusive retreat. Known for its expertise in wine and grapevine treatments, CAUDALIE has chosen Palácio Ludovice to host its first Lisbon Boutique-Spa. The luxurious Vinothérapie treatments elevate the guest experience, complementing the palace’s opulent environment. For fitness enthusiasts, the hotel also offers a fully furnished, state-of-the-art fitness room, ensuring that guests can maintain their wellness routines while enjoying their stay.
The Bar at Palácio Ludovice provides a unique space to enjoy a drink in an atmosphere of cosmopolitan elegance. The bar, featuring the distinctive brick ceiling of an ancient vault and a striking floor-to-ceiling wine counter, reflects the hotel’s architectural charm. It is the perfect place to enjoy great music and unwind in a chic setting.
With its rich history, luxurious accommodations, exceptional dining, and world-class spa facilities, Palácio Ludovice offers a truly unforgettable experience. It’s a place where history meets modernity, where guests can enjoy the finest of Lisbon in a setting that exudes sophistication and charm.
