On the top of the Aan de Stroom Museum, sits the wonderful restaurant T’Zilte, with an amazing view to the expanding city of Antwerp. The Museum Aan de Stroom, MAS (Dutch for Museum at the river) is located along side of the Sheldt River, and opened its doors in May 2011 and it’s the largest museum in Antwerp. Designed by the duo Neutelings Riedjik Architects, the first thing that gets your attention is the combination between Indian Red Sandstone and curved glass, which looks that is sustaining the Stone itself.

We tried the five course menu, and it truly was a journey for the senses, lots of green an full of flavor, every dish had something that made it special, and the wine coice was second to none, combining perfectly with the dishes and working together to bring out all the “hidden” flavors of one another. The Veal from Galicie with cauliflower, sesame, yogurt and sour shallot was absolutely delicious, and the 2008 Cérvoles that went with it, was on a league of its own, superb. For dessert, we had a variety of pastry, accompanied by a refreshing and refined beer, elaborated by Chef Viki, made with raspberry, cherry and cranberry, it’s a good twist on such an important drink in Belgium.
At the end, we were joined by Chef Viki Geune, the mind behind this great experience, who sat with us for a conversation about his career, family and inspirations. Chef Viki told us about the history of the restaurant, which started nineteen years ago, a very small project, and it grew step by step, until the Aan de Stroom Museum was build an it was decided that the T’Zilte had to move to the building, making one of a kind in Belgium.
