Carl Hansen & Son Celebrates 110th Anniversary with Colourful Design ⇒ In a wonderful celebration of its 110th anniversary, the renowned Danish design brand, Carl Hansen &  Søn presented their iconic Wishbone Chair by Hans J. Wegner in a wide range of colours, eight to be precise. Today, CovetED explores this legendary design and its astonishing and lively characteristics, so be prepared to be inspired!

Hans J. Wegner, the original designer of the iconic chair, had a completely experimental approach towards this design, not only in terms of forms and materials used but also with colours. In virtue of such, Carl Hansen & Son provided numerous possibilities for this iconic piece from the 50’s using nature as its main source of inspiration.

Inspired by the wonders of nature, from forests to beaches as well as woods, these tones exude a sense of elegance, depth and softness. The new colours used to embellish the already sophisticated chair were the earthy tones: Rosy Blush, Russet Red and Deep Burgundy as well as the more classical hue, Navy Blue and calmer shades such as Oyster Gray, Forest Green, Midnight Blue and Deep Olive, all of which are deeply connected with nature and are instinctively warm and welcoming colours.

The most distinctive feature of the Wishbone chair is without a doubt its backrest. This exceptional product was conceived in a masterful collaboration between Wegner and master artisans back in 1949-1950 and 70 years later it still continues to place great demands on the artisans from Carl Hansen & Søn who for this new versions assembled and work manually on 14 parts of the chair and hand-stitch the 120-meter rope seat.

As we mentioned previously, this will be a limited-edition release and it will be available only until the 31st of December. The Danish firm provides this product in eight exquisite colours that can completely shift the mood of a home decor!
