As the interior design magazine CovetED Magazine promises, we would like to tell our beloved readers about the great design statement. Luxury British bed maker Savoir is delighted to announce a new bed design from world-renowned Parisian architect and designer Robert Couturier. Couturier’s refined aesthetic and eye for sophisticated elegance serves as an ideal counterpoint to the finest natural materials and craftsmanship synonymous with Savoir. A true fan of the brand, Couturier struggled with sleep until he experienced a Savoir Bed.
“I couldn’t be happier with Savoir beds,” Couturier says. “I have found getting a restful night’s sleep is one of the most difficult things, and it has eluded me much of my life. Savoir has truly made a huge difference. Their mattresses are heaven, and I don’t hesitate to let all of my clients know!”
Interesting facts about Robert Couturier Robert Couturier is a graduate from the Ecole Camondo in Paris, with a degree in interior architecture and design, Robert Couturier moved to New York in 1981. He quickly established his own practice, which has been recognized in, among other media, Architectural Digest’s prestigious annual list of the world’s best decorators and architectural firms and the Wall Street Journal.
In June 2012, Elle Decor included Mr. Couturier in its A-list Top 60 Designers and British House & Garden named him one of the top 10 foreign decorators, and in October 2014, Couturier released his first-ever monographed, titled ROBERT COUTURIER: Designing Paradises, published by Rizzoli. Couturier continues to execute grand-scale commissions in the U.S., Europe, South America, and Russia. Today his name has become synonymous with continental and international style and elegance working with clients such as Anne Hearst and Jay McInerney, Cecile David Weil, Fred Iseman, Frederic Fekkai and Vanity Fair special correspondent Amy Fine Collins.

An organic relationship built on Couturier’s own love of the product, coupled with his reputation as the epitome of luxury in home design, Savoir and Couturier have collaborated to debut this one-of-a-kind piece. Inspired by Art Deco furniture of the 1920’s, Couturier has reinterpreted the sinuous, elegant lines of that era into a design that is perfectly at home in the 21st Century interior. Couturier’s gondola-shaped bed design features luxurious fabrics from the Italian textile-editeur, Dedar. The surround frame is upholstered in Dedar’s ‘Amoire Libre’ in silvery, pale blue: a “free design” fabric, with no repeat or side-matching, lending a unique pattern to each yard. The tufted headboard is upholstered in Dedar’s ‘Alexander’ fabric, in medium grey, blue brushed woollen velvet.
Feeling as though his beloved dogs deserved the same level of comfort, Couturier has also lent his masterful hand to a complementary dog bed design. The dog bed, supplementing its larger counterpart, has the same, restful color scheme and also uses Dedar’s velvet ‘Alexander’ fabric.
To conclude, Savoir Beds continues to be at the forefront of designer collaborations as the brand hand-picks the best in their field to create inspired and innovative designs to further enhance the luxurious appeal of each bed. The Couturier bed debuts on the heels of previous collaborations with celebrated designers, including: Nicky Haslam, Virginia White, Philip Gorrivan, Mary Fox Linton and many more. Savoir is honored to work with Couturier and continue its tradition of working with like-minded partners who truly understand the benefits of a Savoir bed.
