Today CovetED is back to talking about some of the top trends that you need to keep an eye on. In this unique design moodboard created by Trendbook we will be letting you in on all about the Terracotta trend colour. Join us on this small trip through one of 2019’s top interior design trends which is taking over many interior design enthusiasts.
Terracotta is definitely the trendiest colour that is making many people interested in adopting it to their household interiors this year. It essentially consists of a clay-like earthenware ceramic that can present itself in many shades and tones. It’s often defined as being a warm, creamy, natural, rich, full-bodied tone with the ability to successfully blend it with many interior design styles.
Terracotta is the Italian word for “baked earth”, and it’s no wonder, seen as alluding to the unique natural brown-orange colour used in traditional activities such as baking terracotta clay. Due to it being a mix of orange and brown, there’s no doubt that Terracotta as a colour feels cosy to the eye. It’s a shade that alludes to earth and nature adding warmth to the home, and being very easy to combine with many materials and colours.
It can be nicely combined with either warm colours and natural materials such as wood, but it’s also successful with cold colours particularly many shades of blues and with other stone materials such as concrete (which usually results in a wonderful contrast effect). This shade of Terracotta is a perfect choice if you’re aiming to create a chic inspired interior, or use it to gain some unique combos with this colour on home accessories and/or stylish soft furnishings.

For those who are definitely interested in exploring what Terracotta as colour and trend has to offer, we advise you to look at the different shades: the one we mentioned previously and the shade that tends to brown with a little touch of pink inside. Either these choices for terracotta create wonderful results when applied to wall paintings, furniture and other decorative accessories.
