Design Inspiration at Palace Luzern Hotel

May 5, 2015

After Milan, Lucerne was the next city visited by COVETED. The entrance in Switzerland was characterized by the most green and white ambience ever. Laws, trees, and the snow on the top of the Alps shaped the landscape while we were approaching Lucerne.

Lucerne is located in the German-speaking portion of the country, and the Hotel Palace Luzern is set like a stately sentinel on the shores of Lake Luzern (der Vierwaldstättersee), with the Mount Pilatus and Rigi in the Swiss Alps as a background.

For the past years, Palace Luzern has invested for the past years nearly 30 million Swiss francs in extensive modernization. Behind the hotel’s imposing neo-classic façade, there are a lot of suites and rooms radiating an elegant aesthetic, with the finest furnishings and fabrics. Since 2014 the Palace SPA offers two new experiences, the Fire of life that provides a heart diagnosis and answers about health and lifestyle, and the world’s giant singing bowl that allows a unique experience with its vibration.

The architect Max Schmid and interior designer Dominique Couture focused their attentions in the achievement of harmony between the used hues and high-grade woods. Actually the furnishings were made from tulipwood, palisander and olive ash, and the lamps were specially created, based on the designs of Dominique Couture by a master lamp-maker in Lyon (France), for the Hotel with handcrafted bronze and silver-plated finishes.

Only the finest fabrics are used for beds, curtains and seating ranging from wool, silk and cotton to leather.

The bathrooms reflect an elegant style from the Belle Epoque period, and some of them have the bath separated by a ceiling-high glass partition.

The international cuisine has not been forgotten in this whole luxury ambience. The Restaurant Jasper has been the culinary heart of this five-star establishment since 2003, and been awarded with 1 Michelin star. So a totally contemporary and unique atmosphere is waiting for the wealthiest guests with the dishes of the Executive Chef Armin Egli.
