Discover George, an Exquisite Rooftop Restaurant in Zurich ⇒ George Bar & Grill is the name of the restaurant located on the rooftop of the Swiss Casino. The establishment materializes from George, a character inspired by James Bond, Daniel Craig and James Dean. As all these names suggest, George appreciates what is commonly known as the desirable lifestyle: to enjoy the company of friends, good food, drinks, and jazz music. Today, CovetED will explore the magnificent features of this unique dining venue.

The Ober building, formerly shopping arcades and services, was purchased with the sole intention to become the Swiss Casino. After a couple of years, the owner decided to create George Bar & Grill on its rooftop.

This Bar & Grill runs in opposition to the peaceful Swiss lifestyle and is considered too bold for the city. George attempts to go against the established culture and takes inspiration from exciting cities such as New York, London, and Berlin. Its bold signature can also be seen in the design. The job was carried out by Jasmin Grego & Stephanie Kühnle Architektur GmbH, wherein no detail has been left to chance to build a functional accommodation. Gastronomy stations, Jean Paul Gaultier fabrics on the seats, Delightfull wall lamps, and Finn Juhl furniture are a few examples.

Aside from George’s character and design, another significant aspect of the bar is its food. The main attraction is the typical Swiss steak, a Black Angus cow cut for two people, aged 4 to 5 weeks in a cold room located in the kitchen of the restaurant. To go with this delicious steak there is a selection of the best wines and liquors.

Before enjoying this unique experience you must watch the promotional video of the restaurant. It truly illustrates how George Bar & Grill is meant to be so much more than a place to drink and eat, as it was carefully developed to become a place of pure lifestyle where it’s possible to socialize, relax, and have fun.

Last but not the least, the bathrooms, inspired by George’s subconscious, reveal another treat of its character and are worth mentioning. Definitely, the best way to experience such ambience is to visit the restaurant and let yourself be surprised.
