FIRST DAY

It was on two giant screens and a dark background behind that Edward Snowden, live while exiled in Russia, addressed the thousands watching the Web Summit kick-off at the Altice Arena. SECOND DAY

Michel Barnier was a figurehead on the second day of the Web Summit. On the main stage, the EU chief negotiator for Brexit argued that Brussels will demand guarantees for a post-Brexit level playing field, referring to future economic relations between the two parties. “The time will be extremely short for negotiations,” said Barnier, on the main stage of the Web Summit in Lisbon. With an audience composed of one of the most anticipated speakers of the day, he added, “The EU will demand strong guarantees for a level playing field.
