Scandinavian Design Brand Muuto Announces Exclusive Collection ⇒ Scandinavian design brand Muuto has announced their exclusive Outline Twill Weave collection, a series of upholstery items from Kvadrat that are available for a limited time only. Available at select Muuto retailers, the Outline Series comes in four curated colours that share a warm and sophisticated expression, carefully matched with the taupe shade of its legs – an exclusive new perspective on the iconic Outline Series.

Bringing new perspectives to the Outline Series by Norwegian design duo Anderssen & Voll is the Twill Weave textile by American designer Jonathan Olivares for Danish textile manufacturer Kvadrat. By joining together the functional simplicity of the Outline Series with the diagonally-striped pattern of the Twill Weave, the design is reimagined in a refined expression through a modern colour palette, complemented by the custom taupe-shaded legs of the Outline design.

The Outline Series brings new perspectives to the classic mid-century Scandinavian design sofas, marrying the ideals of functionality and simplicity into one. The design takes its name from its strong outline of a sofa—clean and elegant on the outside yet with a deep seat and soft cushioning on the inside.

Having originally been tasked to create a daybed for late architect Philip Johnson’s Thesis House in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Jonathan Olivares decided to explore the materials used for masts—a key material used in the Thesis House—and discovered that Twill Weave was an essential part of this. Olivares decided to develop a textile range of Twill Weave in collaboration with Kvadrat, resulting in a textile that possesses a strong, visual character due to its diagonal structure and graphite colour.

By joining together the simple and refined design language of the Outline Sofa Series with a modernly timeless textile by Jonathan Olivares for Kvadrat, the exclusive Outline Twill Weave Collection adds a contemporary yet long-lasting sentiment to any space. The exclusive Outline Twill Weave Series is designed across the Outline Chair, 2-Seater Sofa, 3-Seater Sofa and 3½-Seater Sofa.
