What can we say about this mansion? Welcome to 2250 Vallejo St., San Francisco’s Most Expensive Home. The home’s first resident was James Madison, a wealthy fish-packing mogul. The marvelous Beaux Arts home was designed by local architect James Francis Dunn and was originally built in 1901, so is more than a century ago. A long time ago the home was even converted to housing wounded soldiers from World War II, then the home spent 50 years as an apartment building.

The five-story home offers 9,095 square feet of living space, seven bedrooms, and seven bathrooms. This mansion is a rare mix of modern luxury and historical character. The San Francisco’s Most Expensive Home has been restored on the outside and completely updated on the inside. One of the key decisions made was that although the interior should be completely ripped out the exterior would be preserved. The home has undergone two top-to-bottom restorations, the last of which took two years to complete. Paul McLean, of Southern California–based McClean Design, renovated the home’s interiors, adding a new aesthetic vision to the mansion. The huge glass windows that look down on the city below are a new addition, you can slide them open and even walk onto the balcony and be amazed by the view of one of the most beautiful cities of USA.  The Gourmet Chef’s Kitchen is also completely new.
