Opening its door in April 2008, the much-loved Greenwich Hotel located in the neighbourhood of Tribeca, in New York City is co-owned by renowned American actor, Robert De Niro, Ira Drukier, Richard Born and Raphael De Niro – The leading Greenwich Hotel “was created with a commitment to Old-World craftsmanship and hand-made details by utilizing techniques and materials from all over the world.”
The Hotel has an exceptional architectural built having been completed by handmade bricks in different shapes and sizes. Custom cast bronze medallions immediately pop out as they adorn in the crown of the building. The public spaces of the Greenwich Hotel were conceived by Grayling Design whereas the interiors were decorated by Samantha Crasco.

In regards to design details, reclaimed wood was used in various spaces of the hotel, such as the ceiling beams in the lobby, the drawing room and the hallway panelling. The Lobby contains astonishing terracotta and marble floors. Lighting pieces made from glass and bronze cast an extra sense of luxury throughout the hotel while Turkish Travertine puts the final touch in outdoor spaces, like the courtyard and the Penthouse’s duplex roof garden. Overall, many design elements were salvaged or inspired by historical facts or places.
The luxurious hotel is composed by 88 guestrooms, suites and penthouses that exude sophistication and glamour, including the Studio and Fireplace Corner suites as well as the TriBeCa and N. Moore penthouses. Each guest room has its own narrative and set of unique features, from entry doors made from recycle heart pine to custom-made and high-end furniture pieces, to contemporary Italian lighting fixture, to Carrara marble bathrooms, to Moroccan bathroom tiles in different colours, to 10-foot ceilings and hand-carved mouldings which were inspired by the design of Parisian parlours, amongst many other extraordinary details that make Greenwich a one-of-a-kind hospitality experience.
The Shibui Spa is the ultimate place where one can enjoy from natural and balanced treatments to cleanse the body and soul. Mikio Shinagawa was responsible for the concept and design of this tranquil area. Located at the spa are also a gym centre and a swimming pool that create an extremely peaceful and amusing atmosphere. The pool is besieged by an ancient Japanese farmhouse, constructed with wooden pegs and a rare knot-tying technique, which is known only by three people in Japan.
Locanda Verde is the must visit the restaurant of the serene hotel and is best defined by its generous and energetic vibe. Chef Andrew Carmellini delivers an urban Italian cuisine and spirit, providing scrumptious dishes. The dining room features a massive fireplace made from recycling New England Oak and Pine that introduces a wholehearted and an exceedingly comfy ambience to New Yorkers and tourists alike. Green marble columns and a cork ceiling bright up the restaurant giving it an exceptional appearance.
