Peter Morgan’s sumptuous Netflix series may be the most elaborate and detailed portrait of the monarchy in the queen’s lifetime. In the first two seasons, the queen is portrayed by Claire Foy being replaced by Olivia Colman in seasons three and four. Imelda Staunton will be portraying the queen in the upcoming seasons five and six. The series shows the queen as sympathetic in her youth years adjusting to her new role and then in her older years embracing the conformity her role requires.
