Porada Celebrates 70 Years of Passion for Wood at Salone del Mobile ⇒ Salone del Mobile has always been an important event for furniture companies and this year is even more special for the Italian brand Porada. The company has achieved an important goal, the seventieth anniversary, a long way since its establishment in 1948. CovetED joins Porada to celebrate the date with some exciting news.

Porada stand at Fuorisalone
Achieving the respectable age of 70 years, Porada delighted its fans with the opening of a new showroom in the heart of Milan, in Via Borgospesso 18. The 100 sqm space has four windows facing one of the most prestigious streets of the Quadrilatero della Moda, the Milan district of fashion and luxury shopping. In the new Milanese showroom, Porada is presenting the most popular products of the latest collections.
During Salone del Mobile 2018, there is other news inspired by the fifties and from the genius Gio Ponti. At Fuorisalone, the display has a stump floor with pomegranate colours and shades of reds. A revival of the ash‐wood is also being presented with Canapa and Caffe finishes that will stick out the wood grain.

The new presented collection is versatile and impeccable, with sophisticated details and material combinations. In the living area, you’ll find a new majestic sofa: Argo, from the designer David Dolcini. Argo is a modular system based on the use of six different frames combined with soft seating in two sizes (85 and 110 cm). The back, armrest frames and accessories are in solid wood while the shelves are in marble. The wooden frame contrasts the soft volumes of the seat, back and armrest cushions.

Two separate night areas are also on display. The popular Ziggy bed is implemented with new finishes and the brand is presenting the new Killian bed, designed by Marconato & Zappa. The Killian is an elegant bed with a solid canaletta walnut frame and brass inserts. The two new beds are being presented together with the Sonja Night bedside table and chest, designed by Gino Carollo.

Back in the living area, Porada is presenting the Tamok sideboard (design by Buratti), the futuristic Gargantua armchair (Andrea Borgogni) and the Ego mirrors (Tarcisio Colzani). The French designer Patrick Jouin maintains the collaboration with Porada, presenting the Emma chair to complete his chairs collection introduced last year at Salone del Mobile. The Koster coffee and side tables, designed by the English designer of Swedish origins Staffan Tollgard, are also being presented. Carlo Ballabio is presenting a dining table, Quadrifoglio, the new exciting table with four‐leaves clover-shaped legs.

To complete the exposition and to celebrate the brand’s 70th anniversary, you’ll find a “museum” area dedicated to three historical products from Porada. Porada has analysed its archive looking for some old hero products to be revised and reintroduced in its new collection. With no changes to the original design, the brand has revised the finishes and technical fittings of some iconic pieces. The Tondo table has a base made of four C‐shaped legs with a round glass top. With a double base, it is possible to have an oval or rectangular top. Finishes available will be in shiny lacquer for a more plastic feeling or in a stained ash‐wood for a more natural one. The iconic Tony (triangular) and Trittico (round) side tables are stackable and very versatile. They have been renewed with lacquered glasses and new finishes, giving a modern feeling to these forty years old products. Every product of this collection has a small brass plate with the 70th anniversary: 70 years of passion for the wood.
