Maison et Objet Paris set plenty of interior design ideas and expressions, courtesy of skilled luxury brands who are constantly reinventing themselves by creating exclusive products. Below, you can read about eight novelties or collections that emanated from the prestigious show and that are bound to be the topic of discussion throughout the year.
Once Upon a Time Cabinet by Boca do Lobo & Vista Alegre
Pixel Cabinet, Once Upon A Time, a piece that resulted from a collaboration between Boca do Lobo and Vista Alegre, pays homage to the union of design and craftsmanship – named by ADChoice as one of the 500 best pieces of furniture in the world – emerges unrecognizable, fully coated with porcelain and transformed into a bar. Once Upon A Time takes you on a journey into the past, the encounter and the creative exchange between the two brands where design, knowledge and the minutiae of the craftsmen play the leading role. The 1088 triangles that complete this Limited-Edition piece, with only 8 copies, contemplate the dedication and art of those who work this meticulous technique. An authentic work of art in which all triangles are individually painted, and tell a story that blossoms harmoniously in every detail.
Timeless Home Collection by Meridiani
The renowned Italian brand has recently presented a new home collection characterised by a recognizable lifestyle that is both timeless and current. One of the most incredible designs within this collection is the Harold modular sofa, a piece that clearly takes the centre stage as it was designed for both the home and contract environments due to its linear, asymmetrical and curved elements. Other stunning pieces from the Adrian collection include occasional tables with smooth-edged tops and a slim metal frame, as well as the Nanì armchairs that highlight metal tubular structures and enveloping backrests.
The New Place Vendôme Collection by Ritz Paris
The Place Vendôme collection provides a new perspective for the dining and living room decor. Ritz Paris Home Collection has released a series of home collections for every category, and this collection reinterprets French tradition with a modern look, refined details and clear-cut profiles, such as shining lacquer and brass effect finishes. The fabrics are precious and contemporary: velvets, silks and satins play on a faux indiscretion of chiaroscuro tones. In regards to the colour palette, this collection features an eclectic combination of Prussian blue as well as sand and ivory nuances, among other tones. As a whole, Place Vendôme creates warm, cocooning environments that are further embellished with elegant decorative accessories.
Lighting Collaboration with Marcel Wanders By Lladró
This year, Lladró announced its latest collaborative project in conjunction with Marcel Wanders, one of the world’s most renowned contemporary designers. A new icon of porcelain applied to light will be unveiled at Euroluce in Spring 2019 and Paris is the chosen location to reveal an exclusive preview of the collection, which came about as the result of a fruitful dialogue between the brand’s experience and know-how and the personal vision of the Dutch designer.
New Floor and Table Street Lamps by Seletti and Studio Job
Street Lamp is the archetype of the traditional gas street lamps found in cities in the early 20th century: Studio Job reinterprets the aesthetics of these memorable pieces of street furniture for contemporary home interiors. After the floor version, inspired by the curvature and proportions of the Arco by Achille Castiglioni and presented at the Salone del Mobile 2018, Seletti also reimagined a table version of this iconic design during the occasion of Maison et Objet Paris. The aluminium lantern with LED bulbs is a wireless, USB rechargeable lamp, and is a perfect piece of decor for both the home and the world of contracting, for a romantic dinner or for relaxing in a softly lit, vintage style atmosphere.
Cell Centrepiece By Zaha Hadid
Referencing Zaha Hadid’s design process with each new project, Zaha Hadid Design (ZHD) continues to examine its significance within the dialogue of contemporary design. The new CELL Centrepiece in stainless steel reflects the spirit in which it was achieved, true to the distinctive process of Hadid, the complex perforations remain undistorted and precise with the use of laser technology. The Centrepiece provokes an emotive response to transitions, through the material and geometry, solid to void, hexagonal to spherical, static to explosive, resulting in the creation of playful compositions.
