Marcel Wanders’ Nightbloom Won the European Product Design Award

First presented during Euroluce 2019, this incredible project by Deutch Designer Marcel Wanders and lighting brand LLadró won the European Product Design Award. The annual competition is used to acknowledging Europe’s top outstanding product designs in several categories. CovetED will be telling you a little more about this amazing set of lamps that cast an incredible light on any style of ambience.

These amazing lamps created as a team effort between Marcel Wanders and Lladró has managed to win the award in the Lighting category within the Home Interior Products section. Wanders, along with the brand’s Creative Director, Gabriel Chiave have definitely managed to create a unique concept featuring many styles of lamps.

The main concept behind Nightbloom was to capture the essence of movement, something that both Marcel Wanders and Chiave felt was reflected in the history of Lladró as a brand. The firm has used porcelain to communicate the concept of moving through design, being remarkable for the effective handling of this precious material.

Among the novelty and contemporary forms of the Nightbloom lamps, is the fact that these lamps have a basis around nature, specifically on the petals of a flower swaying in the breeze. They are somehow a celebration of both the delicate dance of unfurling petals in the wind and also of the blissful beauty of nature in its fullest form.

The name Nightbloom comes from the fact that we can look at these lamps as flowers of the night. They are like living beings: blooming, growing and exhibiting the beauty of their petals in a nightfall-like ambience. Marcel Wanders and Lladró have teamed up on several occasions and, without a doubt, this is a wonderful sign of more things to come from this potential partnership.
