Portego is an Italian Design Studio based in Venice and it was founded by Flavia Testi and Stefano Rossi, with the main purpose of connecting the best local craft manufacturers with the new emerging artists and involve them in the production of high-quality designs, which are contemporary yet express the tradition of the past. At Maison et Objet 2017 you’ll be able to find Portego’s designs in Hall 7, stand D45.
“Imposing their regular, wide and relaxed rhythm on one of the most famous squares in the world. They are porticos, the covered arcades which are one of the most widespread architectural features in the whole city of Venice and a distinctive characteristic of the lagoon city. Portego means “portico” in the Venetian language, and it is an homage to one of the city’s most symbolic elements.”

Portego makes the bridge between the knowledge and skills of craft manufacturers with new talented designers, combining their sensitivity with traditional craft manufacturing techniques, as well as, the ability to revive them in contemporary objects with a timeless appeal.
OCI New Zealand wool rug designed by Seraina Lareida
Oci rugs are handmade in New Zealand wool, mixing different technics and yarns length to give a different feeling walking on. They are available in three different shapes, each one in three colors palette.

SOTTOVOLTO New Zealand wool rug designed by Seraina Lareida
Like the other rugs of the brand, Sottovolto rug tells the Venice’s Architecture history full of water, colors, and sounds, which are the key elements of the Veneto region. The water and colors are intrinsically related to the architecture of the city, and even, the way that Venetians live their daily life.

SELFPORTRAIT wood and steel hand mirror designed by Ilaria Innocenti & Giorgio Laboratore
Selfportrait is a hand mirror manufactured using solid cherry wood and extremely thin layer steel sheet. Even in the colored version, the wood grains are clearly visible.
Accessories: natural cherry wood for table use or wall support. Colours: Natural, dirty pink, dark gray, blue, coral.
MINIPORTRAIT cherry wood boxes designed by Ilaria Innocenti & Giorgio Laboratore
A line of two boxes born from the inspiration of Selfportrait mirror, reproducing the plissé of oriental fans, which can be used as a simple mirror, by capsizing the cover. The special magnets let the cover hide all the secrets inside.
It’s available in two size version: round and stretched. Colours: natural, blue, coral.
ALGAE borosilicate glasses designed and manufactured with Simone Crestani Atelier
The collection of two glass elements was made in collaboration between Portego and the Simone Crestani Atelier, one of the best borosilicate glass artists well-known worldwide for its outstanding creations.
