Karl For Ever: The Karl Lagerfeld Homage That Will Be Held At Grand Palais

A Karl Lagerfeld memorial event will be held in Paris this summer. The fashion world lost one of its most-celebrated designers at the start of this year when Karl Lagerfeld passed away in February. During his career, he served as creative director for two major fashion houses, Chanel and Fendi, as well as heading up his own namesake label, Karl Lagerfeld, and now, these three fashion brands will come together to celebrate his legacy through a special tribute, entitled “Karl For Ever”. Fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld was renowned worldwide for his aspirational, relevant and cutting-edge approach to style. He was a force of nature, coupled with an enigmatic persona and an original perspective on fashion and pop culture. In addition to being the creative director of his signature brand, Lagerfeld oversaw the creative direction of the Chanel and Fendi fashion houses. His visionary talent further expanded beyond fashion to include illustration, photography, styling and publishing.

The event, which will take place during Paris Men’s Fashion Week, will pay homage to the legendary designer via video montages played on three big screens in the main hall of the Grand Palais. Interviews with his collaborators in fashion, art and culture will also be shown, which were shot in front of Lagerfeld’s impressive library of more than 300,000 books.

Fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld was one of the most celebrated designers of the 21st century. He was renowned for his relevant approach to style and a curated vision that balanced classic and contemporary influences. “I design as I breathe,” he said of his artistic process, “you don’t ask to breathe — it just happens.”

The tribute will be staged by theatre and opera director Robert Carsen and will also feature dancers, musicians, singers and actors who will interpret pieces of work admired by Lagerfeld.
