Double Macchiato Is The All-American Christmas Market In Paris ⇒ Double Macchiato is the new pop-up Christmas market in Paris, inspired by New York City. A gang of enthusiastic New York design aficionados are bringing their collective influence from NYC all to way to the City of Lights. These design lovers are Rafael de Cárdenas, Felix Burrichter, Peter Knell and Jen Brill, and they’ve opened the gallery gift shop Double Macchiato in the heart of Paris’s Belleville district.

The brainchild of Architecture at Large founder Rafael de Cárdenas, Pin-Up Magazine editor Felix Burrichter, ex-IMG talent manager Peter Knell, and creative director Jen Brill, Double Macchiato is an open-ended design platform. Its debut iteration is the pop-up market, which will take place inside Paris gallery Balice Hertling this festive season.
Open since December 1st, the store transforms the contemporary art “white cube” gallery space into a sophisticated Christmas market selling design-worthy stocking stuffers—from bottle openers and incense burners to future heirlooms. Double Macchiato, named for the choice of coffee the friends ordered at their first brainstorm session, brings an innately New York touch to an international curation of objects.
Double Macchiato’s inaugural scenography consists of simple steel tables, packing crates, and red floor-to-wall staging, with De Cárdenas adamant that the pieces speak for themselves.
The pieces inside the gallery were carefully chosen, ranging from a €11 bar of Casa Bosques cardamom chocolate that can be found alongside Calvin Klein Home’s Andy Warhol ceramic dinner sets by Fiesta, or a one-of-a-kind screen-printed vintage quilt from the same collaboration (somewhere north of $2,500 USD).
Other vintage pieces include a pop-inflected library of rare books from London-based IDEA Books, as well as Artek stools and benches, while new bamboo ashtrays by New York studio Green River Project further the emphasis on craft.
