Don’t Miss Out on Essência do Vinho – Lisbon

In its 23rd edition, Encontro com Vinhos takes on a new signature: Essência do Vinho – Lisbon, becoming part of a model that has been taking place at Palácio da Bolsa, in Porto, since 2004 and in Funchal, Madeira since 2012. Essência do Vinho – Lisbon will take place between the 22nd and 24th of October, at the Lisbon Congress Centre, in Junqueira.

From the reference producer we have long admired to the winemaker who is breaking dogmas and making different wines… From classics to avant-garde, from Portuguese to international, everyone is present at Essência do Vinho – Lisbon.

The program, intense and very diverse, certainly helps to make the mouth water for those who are curious and wine lovers, not least because there is no shortage of good excuses to visit.

From the character of the granite and the altitude of Beira Interior to the nerve of the Atlantic wines of Lisbon; from the different profiles of Vinhos Verdes to the chameleonic capacity of Baga na Bairrada; from the less obvious Dão varieties to the heritage of old vines in Trás-os-Montes. Much of the diversity of Portuguese regions will be the subject of commented tastings that bring together emblematic wines, new players, old vintages and new releases on the market.

In the international chapter, we highlight the visit to Lisbon of Marjan Simcic, producer of outstanding Slovenian wines, from the region of Goriška Brda. Speaking of “terroir” wines, there is also a tasting with niche producers from Burgundy, such as Camille Giroud, Domaine Pavelot, Marc Roy, Marchand-Tawse, Lavantureux and Taupenot-Merme. The Remírez de Ganuza arrive from neighboring Spain, one of the names that most contributes to the notoriety of Rioja. And, because Champagne is always a region of doom, there will also be a tasting of famous maisons represented in Portugal.

Essência do Vinho – Lisbon takes place on the 22nd and 23rd of October, from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm; on Monday, October 24, the day reserved for professionals, the event is available from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm.
