Bulgari Launches Its Most Complicated Watch To Date ⇒ Bulgari is best known for its big jewellery with exotic colour combinations. Lately, it has become even more famous for an extremely minimalist watch collection known as the Octo Finissimo, within which it has set several records for creating the world’s thinnest high-mechanical watches. Today CovetED brings you the most recent addition to the collection, the Octo Grande Sonnerie Perpetual Calendar, their most complicated watch to date.

The Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater Carbon is the world’s thinnest minute repeater, and the Octo Finissimo Tourbillon Automatic is the world’s thinnest tourbillon and also the world’s thinnest automatic watch. The new Octo Grande Sonnerie Perpetual Calendar is not another ultra-thin record breaker – it is quite thick, and its openworked movement makes it more high-tech than minimalist in design – but it has its own cachet as the most complicated watch Bulgari has ever made.

The watch is a grande and petite sonnerie and minute repeater, which means that on every quarter-hour it automatically strikes the number of quarter hours, and then the number of hours since the last hour on a second series of gongs, so you will always know the exact time every 15 minutes without having to bother looking at your watch. As a minute repeater, it also strikes the hour on demand.

The Octo Grande Sonnerie Perpetual Calendar is a one-of-a-kind piece and it is already sold (for just over $700,000), but fear not, there are plenty of other – more accessible – watches in the Bulgari Octo collection, including the Octo Finissimo Automatic (pictured above), with a titanium case, sells for $12,800 on a strap.
