The nominators listed above are responsible for the identification and selection of talented and innovative designers, who will work closely with OTHR to create a series of objects produced with 3D printing, a sustainable and environmentally friendly manufacturing process.
During the process, OTHR will instruct each designer on the possibilities and limitations of cutting-edge 3D-printing technologies in materials ranging from porcelain and steel to precious metals. The final work will consist of exclusive and limited editions on various finishes, which will be launched at the trade show.
In 2017, the trade show will celebrate five years of existence and it will present an impressive program of special installations, curator-led tours, and Collective Conversations featuring artists, gallerists, designers, educators and cultural innovators drawing on the main strengths in the field of culture.
Steven Learner, the founder of Collective Design said: “OTHR is a great partner for us, as we share an interest in providing a new platform for designers, working with new technologies, and supporting environmentally responsible design. The collaboration will foster accessibility to great design while showcasing the potential of emerging technologies.”
Collective Concept is a program in which a curated group of designers is invited to explore new processes and directions through immersive capsule presentations, in order to reconnect with the roots of their thinking and methods.
The designer and co-founder of OTHR, Joe Doucet, said: “OTHR is committed to collaborating with outstanding designers at all stages of their careers, and is thrilled to partner with Collective to connect emerging designers with transformative technologies on a prominent stage.”
Each trade show, Collective Design celebrates the impact of a living designer long-term career with the Collective Influence exhibition at the fair.
