Patricia Urquiola is a bespoke designer who’s always up to take on a new challenge. Her first project for yachting company Sanlorenzo is a perfect example of her ability and style. CovetED is going to be showing you the inside of this unique vessel which happens to be the first SD96 yacht for the famous Italian shipbuilding company.

With this project, Patricia Urquiola has created a flowing space featuring her unique style. It has a minimalistic approach featuring a mix of carefully selected materials which have the aim of alluding to the thought and concept of the sea. Urquiola created a floating home which truly feels like a luxury refuge.

To accomplish this project, Patricia Urquiola created a unique mix of distinct styles, mainly industrial and artisan. The interiors are filled with warm and welcoming elements that blend past and present marvellously in the interior decor of the ship. According to the Spanish designer on her homepage on this project:

“Our starting point for this collaboration with Sanlorenzo was doubtlessly the sea, a great source of inspiration for the whole development of the concept and therefore the interior of the yacht. The materials, shapes and colors evoke the marine world, creating a flowing and elegant space full of natural colors.” – Patricia Urquiola

More than a living space, Patricia Urquiola focused on creating a type of project that was versatile to the point of being capable of evolving and easily adapting to the needs of the owners. Having a wide experience in a variety of areas such as architecture, interior and product design, her approach to the yachting world is a recent type of challenge for the Spanish designer. She’s also launched a motorboat as part of the new SD line at the Cannes Yachting Festival in France in September of last year.
