London – Kensington Palace Gardens
Move over Mayfair and Park Lane – according to recent research Kensington Palace Gardens is actualy London’s priciest street, with the average property valued at £42.6m.

Paris – Avenue Montaigne
The street in the 8th arrondissement has been rated the richest in the French capital. It is home to numerous designer fashion brands, such as Louis Vuitton, Dior, Chanel and Ralph Lauren, as well as the opulent Plaza Athénée hotel. Marlene Dietrich died in her apartment at No 12 in 1992.

Rome – Via Veneto
Via Veneto’s bar and restaurants heaved with A-list celebrities in the Fifties and Sixties, including Audrey Hepburn and Orson Welles, and it was immortalised in Federico Fellini’s La Dolce Vita. It is home to Café de Paris, Harry’s Bar, Regina Hotel Baglioni and The Westin Excelsior, as well as the US Embassy.

New York – Fifth Avenue
The ninth most expensive street in the world, according to the Billionaire Census, produced by “wealth intelligence” firm Wealth-X and based on average property prices. The Empire State Building, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Rockefeller Centre and The St Regis Hotel are all on Fifth Avenue, while the stretch between 59th Street and 96th Street, looking onto Central Park, is known as “Millionaire’s Row”.

Berlin – Kurfürstendamm
Schlossallee and Parkstrasse are the equivalent to Mayfair and Park Lane in the German version of Monopoly, but Berlin’s most exclusive strasse is Kurfürstendamm. The tree-lined boulevard is Germany’s answer to the Champs-Élysées, filled as it is with luxury boutiques. The five-star Kempinski Hotel is also found here.

Moscow – Ostozhenka
The eighth most expensive street in the world, according to Wealth-X, it is known as Moscow’s Golden Mile. Russian oligarch Alisher Usmanov, a stakeholder in Arsenal FC, is said to own property here.

Amsterdam – Keizersgracht, Prinsengracht and Herengracht
The three main canals of the Grachtengordel, laid out in the 17th Century, are the city’s most prized addresses. The Gouden Bocht (“Golden Bend”) is the most prestigious part of the Herengracht, featuring double-width mansions and inner gardens.

Singapore – Paterson Hill
The fifth priciest street in the Billionaire Census. The Marq, featuring 66 apartments, is its most exclusive address.

Barcelona – Passeig de Gràcia
Home to a pair of Gaudi masterpieces – Casa Batlló (pictured) and Casa Milà – as well as the five-star Hotel Majestic, Passeig de Gràcia is regarding as the most expensive street in Spain.

Hong Kong – Pollock’s Path
The world’s most expensive street, reckons Wealth-X, with an average property price of $120,000 per square metre. In 2011 one property there sold for HK$800 million (£67m). It is found atop Victoria Peak.
Other street’s in Wealth-X’s top 10 were Avenue Princess Grace in Monaco, Boulevard du Général de Gaulle in Cap Ferrat, Chemin de Ruth in Geneva and Romazzino Hill in Sardinia.
