The region is home to more than 150 furniture-manufacturing factories, but most of them have been facing some economic difficulties for the past few years due to lack of orders. Knowing this, Okawa Kagu came up with the idea to merge the internet’s love for cats with the skills of local artisans to explore this new booming segment of business. The results are, so far, extremely positive, and this tiny cat furniture trend has been helping a lot this prefecture. The trend has also gone viral worldwide!

The line of existing products of this cat collection includes replicas of existing full-scale furniture of Okawa Kagu’s other lines, but all of those replicas are produced following the highest quality standards, and all of them are personally handcrafted. The collection comprises, for instance, a pinewood sofa designed and produced by Hiromatsu Furniture, or a dark wood cat bed designed and produced by Tateno Mokuzai.
