HC: The most interesting thing about High Point Market is that it is the world’s largest furniture market. You would be hard pressed not to find everything you need at this market. I think the multitude of educational opportunities really set High Point Market apart from all the rest. There are seminars all day, each and every day. Needless to say, one week is not enough time to see and do it all. You always leave with an agenda for what you want to see during the next market.
CM: Do you think working with teams in interior design is better or worse than working alone? Why?
I believe working in teams in interior design is wonderful. It is only through collaboration that brilliant ideas are born.
CM: How would you describe your the most productive work day?
HC: My most productive days usually start with a quick glance at my actual media channels and then I am off to the office or client appointments. I find my business is more manageable if I block my schedule into specific days for client meetings, designing and business management. My favorite days are client installations. It is always fun to see my designs come to fruition and of course, I love seeing the smiles on my client’s faces.
CM: What are your main criteria in choosing the style objects within all of these exhibitors? What do you pay attention to most of all?
HC: My main criteria for choosing style objects is if it fits in to my design aesthetic. I believe in using pieces which are timeless and can be passed on for generations. The qualities that I pay the most attention to are quality and craftsmanship.
