Coveted had the opportunity to exclusively interview Sofia Joelsson, founder of Sofia Joelsson Design studio. Sofia Joelsson is a leading interior designer in Miami, specializing in creating unique rooms for high-end clients that want more from life. Sofia has earned a reputation as one of the industry’s finest at luxury home interior design thanks to her extensive expertise as a residential interior designer, as well as her trademark style and distinct creative vision.
She is particularly well-equipped to manage luxury design projects of almost any magnitude, thanks to her varied skill set and sophisticated approach. Sofia Joelsson is a competent and reliable collaborator whether you’re looking for an interior design architect for a new building project, a designer to remodel an existing space or a visionary who can totally change an entire property.
Sofia, who is based in the lovely city of Miami, creates interiors that reflect her customers’ well-tailored lifestyles. She has been to the Hamptons, New York, Atlanta, and many other attractive places along the East Coast of the United States for current and former design projects. When asked about her work, Sofia said she loves that every project is different and creates its own new challenges and thought provocation process in terms of her creativity. Also affirming that she’s been in business for 20 years and the most difficult thing has been to ensure that her design is built-in high quality, timely manner, but looking back on her career she feels likes she’s only starting.
“I love to continue developing my own projects and developments, there is nothing better than to step back and lock at your vision actually coming to fruition.” Sofia Joelsson
“I love to continue developing my own projects and developments, there is nothing better than to step back and lock at your vision actually coming to fruition.”
Sofia Joelsson
She has designed everything from urban penthouses to seaside cottages, as well as every sort of premium home in between. Sofia’s design philosophy is based on the idea that a house should be both attractive and comfortable, as well as a reflection of the people who live there. Being such an excellent designer, allowed her work to be easily sought for: “We have been very fortunate that so many media outlets like what we do and constantly do editorials of our projects as well as TV shows such as Open House and HGTV. I also sit on panels for design and architecture.” she said.
She strives to convey the exceptional spirit of five-star lodgings in every residential interior project as a passionate global traveler who has spent substantial time in the world’s most high-end hotels. Aside from that, she finds a great deal of inspiration in the ideas, objects, materials, and technology she encounters on her travels.
Currently designing 3 townhomes in Sag Harbour NY that are “upside-down” houses, meaning that the swimming pool is on the roof tip together with the main living space and kitchen and the master is on the 3 floors, guest on the 2nd and entry on first, lower level gym, garage, etc., Sofia believes that technology is the real current trend: “We have come so far in regards to technology. Look for instance at porcelain slabs that look exactly like real marble but are less expensive, thinner, and easier to install.“
Sofia has perfected the skill of understanding her customers’ most complex wishes and needs and converting them into beautiful living environments, despite the fact that she brings her own taste and style to each project. Establishing a real relationship with each client is always a key concern, allowing her to completely immerse herself in their end-result vision. “We have a diverse portfolio of clients but most of them have multiple homes, yachts, jets and we get to design all aspects of them.“
Sofia’s portfolio includes a broad variety of luxury clients, as well as a number of high-profile interiors. She has been recognized with prizes for her creativity and extraordinary abilities, and she has been featured in several of the design industry’s most prestigious magazines, including Coveted. Stay tuned for more impressive designs from this amazing designer.
