Design Artistry & Architectural Scale at Four Seasons Bengaluru

Design Artistry & Architectural Scale at Four Seasons Bengaluru

March 5, 2023

Centrally located in India’s technology hub, Four Seasons Bengaluru, an Embassy One development, encompasses 230 rooms and 105 Four Seasons Residences spread across five acres of landscaped gardens. The hotel’s design concept reflects nature and geometry in a homage to The Garden City- one of Bengaluru’s famed monikers. As a result, the property splendidly balances various design elements such as shape, color, and contrast.

Informed by the cultural heritage of Bengaluru and its increasing population, international design studio Yabu Pushelberg developed its design ethos for the hotel based on two distinctive themes: the traditional and the transitional. Four Seasons Bengaluru brings modern styles with traditional Indian craftsmanship through stone-filled spaces and a neutral color palette, reflecting the geometric and ornamented patterns of the stonework in the gardens of Bengaluru.

The grand architectural scale of Embassy One is structured to give a surprise in three folds. The elaborate sequence of the ground lobby of Four Seasons is an eye opener in three layers. As you walk into the lobby, you notice spacious area lined with metal fretwork and elegant ceramics. As you wander further, you will be welcomed to The Lobby Lounge & Terrace and The Collection. But that’s not all. It brings the view of the pool and the plush green garden, that are hidden within the property. Speaking on the geometric headboards in the private residences, an associate at Yabu Pushelberg says, “The headboard is taken from a photograph, in which we see a contrast between a rough stone and cut gem. We have attempted to balance certain elements, indoor and outdoor, hard and soft, clean and rough. The headboard motif stems from the gem-like motifs representing the ‘Garden Sky,’ abstractly and geometrically, transforming into different patterns and textures that weave a narrative throughout the building”.

Spa

Respite from the urban life, Infuse spa is designed to create a soothing space by showcasing toned-down color scheme, geometric designs and glass mosaic decor.

Respected artist Riyas Komu’s curated collection of contemporary art plays a crucial role in elevating the hotel’s public spaces. Large-scale art murals by Moss & Lam envelope the hotel lobby, and a massive sepia-toned 18-foot map by Saju Kunhan sits behind the reception desk, elaborately repurposed onto polished teak wood strips. Ethereal depictions of the natural world set on canvas and tarpaulin by GR Iranna also line the corridors, which act as gallery spaces. From Neha Puri Dhir’s fabric patterns recreated on canvas to Riddhi Shah’s etchings done on handmade paper, each hotel room and private residence also boasts incredible artwork.

Dining

The 21st floor at Four Seasons Bengaluru artfully and elegantly designed by multinational interior design company, LW Design. Copitas, the glamorous cocktail bar, boasts of sophisticated interiors in black and gold that contrast nicely with the white marble floor and counters. Bronze decorative details, velvet upholstery, and whimsical art make the space even more alluring. A geometrical gold chandelier gives a stunning edge to the bar area. However, the outdoor patio commanding sweeping views of the tree-top-laden cityscape is the winner in Copitas’ high-octane design scheme. At Far & East, the Asian Brasserie, dark and sophisticated materials, including honed marble floors supplements the timber rug-effect panels, a pattern inspired by Louis Vuitton luggage. The contrasting tangerine-colored upholstery adds a visual vibrancy. Cur8, the modern all-day dinning, consists of an outdoor terrace, a kitchen-style dining room with customized charcoal grill pit and supersized pizza oven. European lines, pop art pieces, and an open floor plan give the restaurant a contemporary feel.

Four Seasons Bengaluru’s interior artistry and architectural scale make visiting a dynamic experience. Not only is Four Seasons Hotel Bengaluru at Embassy One host to some of the most diverse and cutting-edge creative artists and their practices, but also makes the property a valuable patron of these artists by providing them a novel venue to display their work. The interior design of the public spaces and restaurants is nothing short of stunning and the hotel truly feels like an oasis of comfort and luxury in the middle of the bustling metropolitan.
