Meet Attico, The latest Italian Fashion Design Brand to Stun The World – Italian designers Gilda Ambrosio and Giorgia Tordini, combining their vastly different aesthetics to push the boundaries of speciality couture, launched their own line, Attico, in February 2016. The result of their work together is quite mesmerizing, making them the new it-girls in the Italian Fashion Industry.
Gilda, Neapolitan born and Milan-based, has worked behind the scenes at some of Italy’s most respected fashion houses. As a designer and consultant, she always pushes away from the centre, toward the bold and the dangerous.
Giorgia, a November girl, was born and raised in the world of Milanese fashion. A designer and consultant herself, she brought her Italian sensibilities with her to New York, where she has cultivated a cult-like following for her elegant minimalism and artistic eye. Somewhere in the alchemy of the two, Attico was born.
Attico, the Italian word for a penthouse, is a collection of standout pieces inspired by the classic peignoir but designed to be flaunted. Dripping with artisanal detail, each piece embodies a woman from a different city, modern muses with nostalgic cigarette taste. A throwback to a time when decadence ruled and grunge lay dormant in the shadows.
Pulling its rich colour patterns, lavish materials and ornate embroideries from interior design and vintage furniture pieces, Attico is reinventing the very idea of opulence, and with it, the idea of the robe. Each piece carries with it an attitude – the casual confidence of a woman who knows who she is and what she wants. Plunging necklines. Side slits up to the waist. Each piece will teach, too: how to make thrown together appear dressed up, dressed up feel every day, and how to make every entrance feel like an entrance.
Attico throws tradition on its head, making an antiquated concept contemporary, making chaste sultry, and seduction natural.
