CovetED Fashion Week: The Best Street Style In Arise Fashion Week 2018 – Arise Fashion Week – a Nigerian showcase of African fashion from across the continent – was clearly the place to be seen over the past week, with attendees and participants including everyone from Naomi Campbell and Imaan Hammam to Ozwald Boateng, Skepta and Folake Coker.  CovetED Magazine has the juiciest looks.

“In many ways, attending was a dream come true,” explained South African photographer Trevor Stuurman, who had been invited by former supermodel Naomi Campbell. “Connecting with some of the most powerful global African creatives was so inspiring… and it left me with such a hopeful and heart-warming feeling about our beloved continent.”

Throughout his experience, Stuurman captured portraiture of some of the event’s diverse attendees. “Witnessing the varied styles was a reminder that Africa is not a single story,” he continued. “We are a continent blessed with so much depth and diversity – and the beautiful people of Nigeria, coupled with all the talented designers from around the continent, made it so easy.

You could almost point the camera in any direction and be guaranteed a good shot.” Here, we present some of the greatest moments he captured: from phenomenal eclecticism to gothic glamour; elegant tailoring to tulle ballgowns. Indeed, depth and diversity in abundance.

Still the most prominent fashion show in Africa, ARISE Fashion Week 2018 continues to hold its prestige as the premier event where the global fashion elite will once again converge: the intersection of the international and the African; where a global audience of buyers, financiers, retailers, the fashionista and the media gather;  where authenticity and originality meet innovation and style – where fashion truly matters.

The AFW 2018 runway event in Lagos will feature 45 designers from 15 countries, such as South Africa, Botswana, Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Senegal, India, France, Morocco, the United Kingdom, the United States, the Caribbean and Nigeria. In its tradition, the best of these will be selected to showcase during NYFW in September this year.
