One of the most anticipated design events of the year, Design Miami 2019, is almost here! From 3-8 December, all roads lead to the Miami Beach Convention Centre. During these days, the world’s top galleries will display their high-quality exhibitions within the 20th and 21st-century furniture, lighting and objects d’art. CovetED brings you the top five galleries you must visit at the event.
The galleries invited to exhibit in Design Miami 2019 deal mainly in exceptional design objects from the advent of Modernism (circa 1900) to the present day, with select galleries specializing in outstanding 18th and 19th-century antiques.
Friedman Benda presents a cutting-edge program exploring the most relevant movements in historical and contemporary design.
Tile Blush is a Miami based gallery specializing in Contemporary Art and Design. Established in 2017, as a new concept reimagined from the remnants of Noguchi Breton, formerly VersaceVersaceVersace and GucciVuitton.
Carpenters Workshop Gallery, with spaces in London, New York, Paris, and San Francisco, transcends the classical borders of art and design, offering a precise symbiosis at the intersection of these two universes. Carpenters Workshop Gallery produces and exhibits functional sculpture by both established and international rising artists and designers who work outside traditional territories of expression. The gallery is actively involved in the research and production of limited-edition works found at the foreground of a process guided by emotional, artistic, and historical relevance.
Established by Benoît Wolfrom and Javier Peres in 2018, Functional Art Gallery is a Berlin-based gallery promoting young contemporary designers to an international audience. The gallery’s mission is to help shape the discussion between art and design and to further increase the presence of cutting-edge design within the larger art world. They work with artists and designers who push the line between aesthetics and purpose, form and function, perception and intent.
Galerie Patrick Seguin showcases the talent of twentieth-century French designers, including Jean Prouvé, Charlotte Perriand, Pierre Jeanneret, Le Corbusier, and Jean Royère. For thirty years, Galerie Patrick Seguin has worked to promote Prouvé’s demountable houses. The gallery currently presents the largest collection of his houses and publishes a series of monographic books to accompany the exhibitions.
