Madrid Design Festival 2020 consists of an international event meant to turn the city of Madrid into a capital of design. It’s celebrated during the month of February, and right now it’s being held at various venues in the city until the end of this very same month. CovetED will be taking you through the essentials regarding this unique initiative.
From architecture to graphic design, and through a communication or interior design, Madrid Design Festival 2020 will be dynamizing the city throughout February. The initiative was first created by La Fábrica under the direction of Álvaro Matías and it has the advantage of counting with a remarkable set of independent experts, and many specialists in different fields.
The main aim of this event is to democratize design as well as transmit the importance of this element that transforms our lives each day. The city-wide celebration makes Madrid into a cutting-edge space in the fields of design and creativity, accompanied by world-renowned events. Other talking points such as design functionality (including its transformative capacity, its social and pedagogical dimension), new materials, sustainability or responsible consumption will be brought up throughout the event.

Among some of the top events of the Madrid Design Festival 2020 we can include the OFF festival which will give the chance for many design stores, contemporary furniture, artisan workshops, restaurants, fashion and jewellery designers to have an open day. Each one of these entities will provide interested audiences with exhibitions, talks and workshops with the aim to boost the design industry.
The whole programme of Madrid Design Festival will include a variety of over 250 activities developed in multiple scenarios. There are many recurring presences which will also be attending the event and showcase their works, such as Patricia Urquiola, Giorgetto Giugiaro, Bruno Monguzzi, Mario Ruiz, and more.
