A live session with one of the most prestigious design magazines ever? Count us in! This 100% Desing talk, chaired by Dezeen Editor in Chief – Marcus Fairs – counted with the presence of no more then some design giants such as YOO creative directors – Kelly Hoppen and Marcel Wanders with the YOO chairman John Hitchcox.

Kelly Hoppen tells us all about what being a designer is. Inspires by her grandparents that lived in Africa, the ambience, the livelihood is all that matters. The design claims that her mission always was – “Design homes for people to live in.”. And that, for sure, is a great mission. She tells the whole room that every day new steps are being taken, new challenges and the sense of community has never been more important.

When working on YOO, the designer Kelly Hoppen, tells us that:

“We’re trying to create something extra special, for everyone.”

And that balance is key. Technology, constantly evolving is one of the most talked points, when it comes to bringing technology home, everything must be in balance. When speaking about design, a community in design and what makes a home, the interior designer is all about talking.

“[People] they love their home but they need to have a community to support them. People need to have a choice, body, mind and spirit.”

“People need their homes, their space. You make your house not only for yourself but for people to visit.” – Marcel Wanders

When it comes to having a sense of community, of home, technology is something to be thought off. And one of the most pertinent questions was exactly that, what is the role of technology in the nowadays and future homes? Marcel Wanders says that “Technology is going to become invisible, but always present.”
