Herzog & Meuron using architecture as a vehicle of expression and matching their strengths and weaknesses on every project. They know each other since a very early age and their work together started by kindergarten time. In fact, by the end of their secondary education, they already had built together with all types of swiss houses, rollercoasters and ships with Lego and Meccano toys.

Although they started different courses at university, it didn’t take long for them to reunite again. Thus, they entered the architecture course at the Lausanne Federal Technical University (ETH). After one year they transferred to ETH in Zurich where got their curse completed in 1975.
In 1978, Herzog & Meuron opened their first office in Basel and creased their architectural partnership. As a matter of fact, their careers grew in parallel. They are both professors at Harvard and at ETH Studios in Basel.
Herzog & Meuron partnership grew solid and now they have an office with nearly 120 people from all over the world. Besides their headquarters in Basel, they count with offices in San Francisco, London and Munich.
Involving different teams, they also have a wide variety of talents available for each project. And because their teams are not static, they change according to the projects. This talented multidisciplinary ability allows them to create real masterpieces.
