Virginia Tupker worked as a home editor at Vogue but received an invitation from coworker Tabitha Simmons to help decorate her home. From there the invitations started to emerge and she starts designing full-time, appointing a string of homes for a new generation of tastemakers. The former home editor at Vogue is a rising star in the interiors world!

During Virginia Tupker’s six-year tenure as home editor at Vogue, a coworker, the shoe designer Tabitha Simmons, turned to her in a moment of desperation: Her house was empty, and she needed help. “It was a big job, but I said yes!” Tupker recalls. “And things took off from there.” Soon she left the magazine to start designing full-time, appointing a string of homes for a new generation of tastemakers. She decorated a bohemian barn in Southampton in less than a month for Moda Operandi cofounder Lauren Santo Domingo and dressed a dapper Upper East Side apartment for fashion writer Derek Blasberg (AD, March 2019). “It’s very word-of-mouth,” says the designer of her practice. But the projects keep rolling in, from a gut reno on the Upper East Side to an Airstream in the country decked out like a gipsy caravan. “Many of my clients have a very distinct personal style,” she explains. “My job is to guide it.”

Virginia grew up in London, in the heart of Chelsea. So from a young age, she was exposed to the pulse of both fashion and design.

She doesn’t have a specific style, she likes to work closely with each client to guide their innate style, achieving striking results and creating interior spaces that serve as a portrait of their inhabitants.

She is known for her passion for beautiful textiles, her sophisticated colour sense, and her trained editor’s eye. In 2019 she was included in Elle Decor’s A-List. Recipient of the D&D Building’s 2017 Stars of Design – “Stars on the Rise” Award. She resides in Connecticut with her family.
