Founded in Russia in 2002 by a family and creative duet – Nadezhda and George Ananyev – are the proud owners of the architectural and design bureau N&G Ananiev Interiors. The bureau counts with five employees that are engaging in a full cycle of works: architectural design, construction, design and project management. If you asked what’s their strength, their answer would be – “very individual tailoring”. Their design legacy keeps on growing and in, 2018, they opened their own gallery of vintage and designer NG Gallery items.

This particular home inspiration that we bring to today was their first project in the USA. When they met the owners of this property ten years ago, they realised that they were a family with Russian origins, that even though visits their homeland often, would now like to reinvent the house they bought in 1980s-1990s near New York, and make it their permanent address.

The owner’s visual goal for the house was colour. Nadezhda and George Ananyev followed this request and the result is a home filled with vintage references while still showcasing beautiful contemporary furniture. – Everything was built having in mind the main idea of “visual impression and magnificent appeal for the eyes”. It was important to make a statement with expressive walls through bright wallpapers, combine artistic and remarkable furniture and also outstanding and even provocative pieces of art.

In terms of the house planning; the first floor gathers a singular public area, which is a suite of rooms closed in a circle. On the second floor, there is a private area. There is also a room for each child and a separate outhouse for the guests. The walls remained in the same place – Ananiev did not move them – though they have completely cleaned the “stuffing”, leaving only the doors, as the designers found them really beautiful and in conformity with the concept.

The “music lounge” has an amazing merge of bright colours and a playful composition of vintage to modern furniture. One of the main entertainers is mustard-yellow Maya armchairs from Brabbu, intense addition to this living room design. This velvet accent chair has the perfect combination of sensual and delicate forms and due to its fierce colour can invoke long and comfort conversations.

The main living room also highlights the walls with beautiful blue wallpapers from Casamance, while the painting by Ilya Kabakov presents a serene nostalgic scenery in a nature-themed artwork.

Lastly comes this room, a celebration of colour combined with fantastic textures that will provide anyone who enter it with a complete sensory experience. – Some might even say, that this house is more than a house, it’s almost a work of art!
