Libraries have always been a part of Guignard’s live, but it was in 2008 that he started to gain interest on their structures. He was working on a project that consisted in the merge of several libraries at a college campus, and that was the first time he had a chance to sketch the inner structure of a library, taking into account the needs of students, professors and employees.

The first he travelled to photograph a library was in 2011. Guignard has a list of libraries he would like to visit in order to complete his project, “Libraries“, that he is currently posting on his Instagram page.

According to Thomas, the hardest part about this challenge is the distance, because most of the places he would like to visit are far from where he lives. Travelling isn’t cheap and the “Libraries” project is completely self-financed, making things harder. His favourite part about this project is how he can showcase different architectural styles, encouring people to go see them for themselves.
