The exclusive Golf Club Miramar opened in 1931 with the idea of creating a Portuguese golf club, considering that, at the time, golf was practised mainly by British people that lived in Oporto. This concept was imagined by Frank Gordon, Cláudio and Mário Martins. Gordon asked for the assistance of a famous Scottish architect, Mackenzie Ross, to design and build the original course. Afterwards, the golf club went through several improvements and modifications which made it one of the best 9-hole courses in the entire Iberian Peninsula.
