“Deborah Comte-Liaigre, Artistic Director at Liaigre, was touched by the radicality of James Oughtibridge’s work, by the beauty of the perfect movement, the perfect curve, the purity and the way the sensual shapes capture the light. He embodies Liaigre’s values as his pieces cultivate discretion, depth and sophistication,” disclosed Asli Bohane, Liaigre’s UK Managing Director, she continues by saying, “Liaigre collaborates on a regular basis with the UK and international artists and we are really looking forward to commissioning James an exclusive piece which will be sold at the Liaigre London showrooms.”

In 2001, James Oughtibridge graduated with an MA from the Royal College of Art and has, since then, has carried out various private and public commissions, including the Presidential Suite at the Grosvenor Hotel, London. His current range of vessel forms is constructed using curved slab sections of clay that are constructed with numerous planes and perspectives, inviting a world of contorted shadows. In addition, his pieces often appear to float with no visible flat base, creating a tension within their surroundings.

Since the creation of the very first showroom in the 80’s, Liaigre has been synonymous with luxurious, sophisticated simplicity. The brand’s interior designs are renowned for their clean lines, naturally inspired tones and high-quality materials.
