Axel Vervoordt

The Belgian designer and antiquaire Axel Vervoordt is selected into this list for his capti­vatingly minimalist interiors infused with a serene sense of history and timelessness. You may recognize his signature style by pale-washed walls, salvaged beams, rustic slab tables, linen-slipcovered seating, antiques with rich patinas, juxtapositions of ancient sculpture and abstract paintings. There are Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, Robert De Niro, Calvin Klein among his VIP Clients.

Deborah Berke

Daniel Romualdez

Widely heralded yet wildly discreet, Daniel Romualdez has won accolades for his seamless, sublimely crafted environments, whose broad range of styles—minimalist here, maximalist there— share a rarefied attention to detail. The designer deeply believes: “Form follows function—a home, no matter how beautiful, does not succeed if it’s not comfortable.”

Darryl Carter

Nearly two decades ago Darryl Carter left a successful law career to pursue his love of design, a passion he has since exercised in spare, elemental rooms—as well as in his lighting collection for the Urban Electric Co., paints for Benjamin Moore, and his namesake Washington, D.C., shop. The key influences on the designer had Architect JØrn Utzon, cabinetmaker Thomas Day, artists Purvis Young and Igor Mitoraj.

David Kleinberg

In the coolly cultured, perfectly polished settings composed by David Kleinberg, tranquil color schemes are punctuated by powerful silhouettes and architectural details that establish a refined sense of rhythm. His latest project is a historic Egyptian Revival house in Sag Harbor, New York, and an oceanfront villa in Palm Beach, Florida.
