Arthur Gensler Jr. is an entrepreneur and architect, widely credited with elevating the practice of interior design to professional standing, Art Gensler founded the firm, in 1965. The business has thrived for 50 years, growing from a three-person office to the largest design firm in the world. Its success is based on a combination of exceptional design services, innovative leadership, and team-oriented infrastructure.
Art graduated from Cornell University’s College of Architecture, Art and Planning (and member of its Advisory Council), Arthur is a Fellow of both the American Institute of Architects and the International Interior Design Association, and a professional member of the Royal Institute of British Architects.
A charter member of Interior Design magazine’s Hall of Fame and a recipient of IIDA’s Star Award, he has also received Ernst & Young LLP’s Lifetime Achievement Award and the Cornell Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

Moscone Convention Center
The building’s extraordinary flexibility, including more than 5,000 linear feet of moveable, ceiling-hung panels, allows separate events to be hosted simultaneously on all three floors. Gensler designed Moscone West in joint venture with Michael Willis Architects and Kwan Henmi Architecture.
