The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) is about to have its 60th edition on a set of five days filled with a lot of action, featuring around 1200 boats on display across seven locations in Florida. During that period, the city of Fort Lauderdale (known often as the “Yachting Capital of the World”) will live and breathe the true nautical lifestyle in what is currently considered as the largest in-water boat show on earth. The yearly design event will be displaying exclusive products including the industry’s latest boats and yachts of varied sizes, alongside some worldwide debuts. In FLIBS you can find a variety of attendants: from yacht builders and its designers to even some exotic cars and brokerage yachts. CovetED brings you everything you can’t miss from October 30th to November 3rd 2019.
There will be a lot to see and experience throughout this area as it’s usual in every edition of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. In this 2019 edition, there will be a set of areas you can explore in that sense. You can check out the main highlights of the event throughout locations such as Bahia Mar Fort Lauderdale Beach Hotel & Yachting Center, Hall of Fame Marina, Las Olas Municipal Marina, Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina, Sails Marina, Pier 66 Marina and the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center. Throughout the show, you will definitely find that it has something for everyone. Not only are we talking about the astonishing superyachts and the boats for every budget, but also in regards to boating electronics and equipment, fishing gear, marine art, nautical-themed home goods, and other elements which include clothing, jewellery and many more.
This amazing event, which is expected to attract an amazing lineup of superyachts will be including an array featuring some of the most recent vessels launched this year. Around 1000 exhibitors will be lined up in the event, from some of the most well-known shipyards to some top prestigious brokerage firms. Aside from presenting the latest yacht concepts, these exhibitors with varied backgrounds will also be supplying some useful information suited for both potential clients and just curious onlookers. It’s to note that in many cases you can only go aboard these bespoke luxury vessels and see the interior design for yourself by appointment only.

One of the most noticeable parts of the event set to make a debut this year is definitely the Superyacht Village, as a celebration of the 60th anniversary of the main event. Located at Pier Sixty-Six Hotel & Marina’s new “Pier South” property (and adjacent to the southeast of the 17th Street Causeway bridge), this area will be featuring vessels up to 400 feet, as well as other relevant elements in the yacht lifestyle which will include yacht toys, helicopters, personal submarines, alongside other exotic and collectible automotive. This area will be open to everyone who has a general admission ticket. It can be a good option for dining, as well as entering and enjoying some areas of discovery alongside some VIP events. There will also be some featured exhibits from some relevant shipyards and Yachting companies such as Abeking & Rasmussen, Benetti, Feadship, Hessen, Lurssen, Oceanco, Turquoise Yachts, among many others.
Of course, being an event dedicated to the Boating lifestyle, it’s natural that there would be a couple of auxiliary events set on land. Most notably the informative seminars on a selection of topics and talks which will be given by some of the main key players in the boating industry. Not only that, but you can also count on a series of glamorous parties and other variations of festivities. Companies such as the Blue Wild Ocean Adventure Expo, Coral Reef Stage and the IGFA School of Sportfishing will be introducing the participants to some of the most relevant topics within the universe, such as learning how to Scuba Dive, Underwater Photography, New Technologies for exploration of Coral Reefs, among many more. There will also be a segment for kids titled “Kids Fishing Clinics”, which will be hosted by Hook the Future and led by Captain Don Dingman, who will be taking the little ones through a unique fishing education experience.
A returning initiative for the 2019 edition of this event is the FLIBS’ yacht chef competition, highly successful in last year’s edition. This part of the event will be featuring a selection of yacht chefs who will be battling for the prestigious Wine Enthusiast award. This will be an opportunity for onlookers to have a sample of some tasty and refine cuisine, along with some amazing cocktails that are a perfect example of a luxury lifestyle onboard a deck.
For the most adventurous types of people, Aquazone By Nautical Ventures is back once again. Known often as this Boat Show’s Largest Attraction, and located at the Sailfish Pavilion outside the Convention Center, here you can talk to a series of pros who will involve the interested participants in a series of unique in-pool exhibitions throughout the entire day. You can also be involved in an event with in-water demos, hands-on-testing, and a set of contests and prizes. There will also be a one-stop learning centre for information and product knowledge from exhibitors which include Torqeedo, SEABOB, Crystal Kayak, LIVE Watersports, Electrical Surf Sports, Ocean Kayak, Zapata Flyboards, among many others. This stage of the event will also be including initiatives such as SUP Yoga Exhibitions, Hovercraft Shows, Underwater drones as well as some New Yacht toy product reveals.
Last, but definitely not least, at Broward Convention Center, you can attend the Angler’s Hospitality Lounge initiative which will allow you to relax, while enjoying a tapas menu accompanied by some complimentary drinks and Beverage Tastings. This initiative will be happening every day of the event, will be featuring some entertainment parts, however, you must have a ticket in order to enter and fully enjoy the fun.
The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show will feature many luxury brands, including Covet House, which you can find at the SuperYacht Pavillion, on booth #689.
As you can see by the program of the event, it is the perfect example of an initiative with something for everybody. Despite having started off as a local boat show, throughout the years, this initiative has significantly grown into an amazing international exhibition which manages to make Fort Lauderdale look and feel even more amazing with every passing year. From the 30th of October to the 3rd of November 2019, if you happen to be passing by Florida, then this will definitely be an event worth checking out for your entertainment.
