Excel London

This year edition of the Grand Designs Live is taking place at London’s ExCel from May 4^th to 12^th: like every year it’s sponsored by Anglian Home Improvements and it will be presented by British designer Kevin McCloud, who presented the Channel 4 series from which the Grand Designs Live has taken inspiration. The event has some project zones to inspire visitors: Build – where it´s possible to find the latest developments in sustainability and eco-technology as well as free expert advice. Gardens Area –  is full of contemporary garden products, from hot tubs and swim spas to barbecues and outdoor furniture. Interiors – packed with beautiful products from individual designers and hundreds of items that are not readily available on the high street. Technology – with hundreds of products from the latest home entertainment systems to smart technology, conceptual lighting and much more. And last but not least, Design Arcade- an ideal opportunity to invest in pieces from new and established British craftsmen. Grand Theater, Live Self Build and The Under the stairs Project are some of the events you can’t miss.

Grand Theatre has been chosen as the perfect venue to allow the public to meet and interact with the Grand Designers: from the same host Kevin McCloud to Grand Designs magazine editor Karen Stylianides to resident experts that will reveal the secrets behind the renovation projects seen in tv.

It’s an amazing opportunity to watch a love build take place thanks to Kevin McCloud and Studio Bark’s effort. They will use the U-Build concept, a revolutionary building process useful for its adaptiveness: it’s easy to utilize, it’s made of natural materials and even easier to deconstruct. The simplicity and flexibility behind the process make it the best solution for entire communities to build their own houses – without any help whatsoever! The Under The Stairs Project

Born as a competition for interior designers, it’s a splendid opportunity to catch some ideas and inspirations for your next makeover: the focus of the competition – based in the renovation of unconventional places – aims to inspire visitors and to give them help about the “smaller home” trend and the problematic situations that arise from it.
