CASA DECOR starts the next week: From March 5 to April 19, this luxurious event has a great evolution from design to architecture in Spain and throughout the world. It presents the need for living in aesthetic, functional, healthy and exclusive environments. For this 55th edition, the building that will house the projected spaces of Casa Decor is located in the heart of Barrio Salamanca. It is the twelfth time that the event is held in this stately neighbourhood of Madrid, this time in a house-palace of the early twentieth century. And the best of all? It joins all the best interior designers from Spain in a magnificent space. Keeping in mind that our readers love to be informed, CovetED brought you what’s not to miss from this year’s Casa Decor.
CALLE VELÁZQUEZ, 21
The building was built in 1904 for the Marquis of Frómista by the architect José Espelíus Anduaga, author of other prestigious Madrid buildings such as the Teatro de la Reina Victoria, the Plaza de Toros de las Ventas, the Ministry of the Navy or the Teatro de la Operetta. The building has many architectural details that make this house-palace a unique place for the more than 50 interior designers who participate in this edition to surprise with the latest in interior design, technology and avant-garde trends. The cylindrical tower of the chamfer, the domed dome, the carved doors, its high ceilings, the ornamental wealth, the glazed galleries and the majesty of some of its rooms conferred the award for the “Best Built House” in 1907 by the Madrid City Council; and in 2020, Velázquez 21’s house will make history again.

In the beginning, she worked in the architecture studio “Rafael de la Hoz”, where she acquired the experience and high-level of demand when executing projects. Later, she created her own studio “Living Pink” with other two members, where the fun was present and the functional spaces existed (her works include the Mercado Lonja del Barranco in Seville, the luxury housing project in Juan Bravo and other homes and offices), but she didn’t pretend to end there. She currently owns her own firm, where she takes design to the max level, creating furniture and objects of her own design.

MASQUEESPACIO
Masquespacio is a creative advisor working in branding and interior design. The studio is led by Ana Hernández and Christophe Penasse, where they work by thinking about the user experience and communication. Despite the functional and aesthetic aspect, they want to connect people telling a story, and design is the best weapon to achieve it. The DIY (“do it yourself”) philosophy must be present at their work, as well as unexpected materials for the interior design projects. For them, once you have defined your concept, everything comes with it, especially the storytelling, key for Masqueespacio success.
We hope to see you at Casa Decor, so you can breathe the best of architecture and design, in Spain and throughout the world!
